the service level being offered to authorities, bringing together a leading dealer
in negotiable money and capital market investments with the leading provider of
treasury management and capital financing advice to UK public service organisations.
We are able to provide a unique service for local authorities, opening up the securities
markets for direct investment, combining both the dealing and settlement of investments
and the subsequent holding of those securities in a custodian account on behalf
of local authorities.
In general, local authorities have previously not invested directly in certificates
of deposit, gilts, Treasury bills and other securities due to the need for custody
of the securities. We offer a full service, including custody, on very attractive
terms.
As part of our service we can provide advice regarding strategy and timing of investments.
In addition, we sell you the securities on an all-inclusive basis – the price you
pay will include all brokerage and custody charges, so you know exactly the yield
that you will earn on the investment.
Such investments are attractive as they provide liquidity, something not available
from a fixed term deposit. There is a wide spread of available maturities from 1
week to 5 years, or even out to 50 years if required, but can be realised within,
at the most, 3 days. Importantly, the authority remains in control of the investment
strategy, both in terms of interest rate exposure and counterparty exposure. Finally,
investments can be made in relatively small sums of £500,000 upwards.
